My cubing journey

If you are curious, you'll find the puzzles around you. If you are determined, you will solve them. Erno Rubik

How I learned to solve a Rubik's Cube

So for my birthday my dad got me a book and it taught my dad the LBL method and then after 5 weeks of my dad understanding the method , my dad taught it to me. After another 5 weeks I could solve it but it took a long time ( 4-5 minutes ). After 2-3 months I fully maximized the method and got down to a time of 1:30 but I then found that once I was used to the method and started recognising cases and some more improving I was able to get my first SUB 1 minute solve (in fact it was almost sub 50 seconds as it was 51 seconds).

From there i kept improving until i went to watch my first competition and i loved it so i bought a good cube at that comp and registered for my first actual comp where i competed. Before that, I was determined to learn a new method - called CFOP - a top method most cubers use and just before the comp i was ready.

At the comp i met top cubers and when it came to me competing in 3x3 (the only event i entered) on my second solve i got a pb , beating my best by 5 seconds , of 16.785 and it was crazy i had a fun time an since then i have came to many more competitions and hopefully more in the future.
